Senior College

Head's Welcome

“Aristotle once said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”  Even as we impart education to match the advancement in technology and globalization, we endeavour to develop an ethos of morals, values and integrity.

Each student at Ashton is a work of art, a unique self – portrait and each student paints his or her own portrait and creates a legacy.  Each student has the power to make a positive impact. We encourage our students to serve others and to be remembered for something, to be known as more than merely ordinary, to be seen as someone who truly made a difference.

Our College is an amalgamation of subject specialists, state-of-the-art facilities and an experienced and efficient administration.   We encourage all students to participate in the many extra-curricular activities we offer from dance and music to a variety of sports, community projects and clubs.  It is important for each student to explore and find their strengths and it is our sense of commitment that we strive to unlock the potential that lies within every student, producing well rounded young adults that will one day, make a difference in the world.”

Keep our legacy alive!

A Message from our Head Boy and Head Girl

Reece Strydom

Head Boy

We have all been eagerly awaiting to welcome the new students, as we embrace this moment we greet you with open arms and our school’s motto HSCC, heart, spirit, character and courage.  We as a prefect body are here to help you and guide you and lead you through your years of Senior College, a word of encouragement is respect – to respect yourselves, respect your peers, respect your teachers and your higher formers. In do so you will receive kindness, respect and care in return. This will also help you glide through senior school with no major issues. We ask you to please take advantage of all that Ashton has to offer and get involved in the extra mural activities as well as our sporting events. As you can see our school has world class facilities available to you all so please use it to your advantage. Senior College is what you make of it, embrace it, enjoy it, have fun but keep your focus and pre plan because it is a very busy year and you don’t want to be falling behind, trust me. Enjoy every moment of high school as these days are the best days of your life and before you know it you’re going to be seniors of the school. We wish you all the best for an amazing 2020.

During your time in High School, you are going to experience growth in leaps and bounds. High School is truly what you make of it and very soon you will be experiencing the time of your lives. However High School goes hand in hand with the saying, “You learn to play hard, but work hard at the same time.” You will soon learn that Ashton is your home from home. Attending High School at Ashton is more than just achieving a qualification, it’s about the social interaction and exposure to the extra mural activities that are made available; from Sport, to Culture, and Academics, which will help you to grow into the person you aim to become one day. That’s exactly why the Prefect Body have chosen the theme for 2020 to be, “Growth”. During the beginning of Grade 8 you may find yourself in uncomfortable situations, but in order to grow you must place yourself outside of your comfort zone, because this helps identify and unlock your hidden talents. There will be prizes along the way with shared laughter and memories. During this month you may find it challenging, however if something doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you, so always do your best and have faith that God will do the rest. Remember, “Excellence belongs to the Zealous.”
