Senior College

Head's Welcome

“Aristotle once said, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”  Even as we impart education to match the advancement in technology and globalization, we endeavour to develop an ethos of morals, values and integrity.

Each student at Ashton is a work of art, a unique self – portrait and each student paints his or her own portrait and creates a legacy.  Each student has the power to make a positive impact. We encourage our students to serve others and to be remembered for something, to be known as more than merely ordinary, to be seen as someone who truly made a difference.

Our College is an amalgamation of subject specialists, state-of-the-art facilities and an experienced and efficient administration.   We encourage all students to participate in the many extra-curricular activities we offer from dance and music to a variety of sports, community projects and clubs.  It is important for each student to explore and find their strengths and it is our sense of commitment that we strive to unlock the potential that lies within every student, producing well rounded young adults that will one day, make a difference in the world.”

Keep our legacy alive!

A Message from our Head Boy and Head Girl

Tristan Turner

Head Boy 2021

‘Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to
those who prepare for it today’ – Malcolm X
Our journey through school lays the foundation and prepares us for
our life ahead so I would like to encourage the new students of the
Ashton family to participate in as much as you can and to keep in
mind that high school is a very memorable aspect of everyone’s lives,
so do your best to make as many good memories as possible by
having fun. I am very excited and honoured to be your Head Boy for
2021 and I hope that I will be an example of the Heart, Spirit,
Character and Courage that Ashton stands for. These are very
challenging times for everyone, currently living through the corona
virus era and having to always wear a mask and social distance from
our friends. But we as the prefect body will ensure that we are here
to support and guide you through the upcoming year. Each of you
will have your own journey as there are so many paths to choose.
The Senior College offers such a variety of sport, academic, and
cultural choices that I can say with certainty that there really is a
happy place for each of you. It has been such a privilege to be part
of building Ashton into the outstanding school it is today, with our
world class facilities, and the most incredible staff. Make every
moment count as you begin high-school and we wish you all the best
for 2021.

What is your vision as you start your high school journey? Your vision of yourself at your most
wonderful? Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?
Perhaps your vision will be similar to what my vision was 5 years ago. I was so excited to be starting high
school. I was determined to receive the top academic position in my grade, to leave a powerful footprint
as a netball, hockey and soccer player. To be liked and valued as a person of excellence.
All of this matters of course. We must strive to be brilliant. But there is more to this, really. As we
mature, our vision changes, and we learn that in order to be a real leader, a person who truly makes a
difference, we need to step outside of ourselves and find out what is important to others.
We must connect to each other with humility and sensitivity. The real goal is to serve others zealously,
unselfishly and with all our hearts, and to understand and commit to the ethos and values of our
So here is my suggestion to you as you begin your high school experience. Be true to yourself. Have a
vision that sees you achieving your full potential, a passionate, participative member of our Ashton
family. Be a friend to everyone. Be kind. Be your best self and reach for the stars. Shine.
